Cabana beach
I know Cabana beach from the Friday evening party's. Piano music, songs and pleasure. This time we go for dinner on a quiet thursday evening. The restaurant is located next to mambo beach
After ordering a drink we examine the menu. Bab's decides to order a goat cheese salad and i choose the carpaccio with duck liver. (I can't help it but carpaccio is one of my favorite dishes).
In the meanwhile Bab's get her Rosé. The glass is not clean, warm and the wine doesn't taste to good. My bacardi coke tastes fine. Waiting for the food we discuss the interior of Cabana beach. Nice lounge-sofas with the beach on the background. Still the total looks incoherent.
Our orders are served. My carpaccio is on a giant plate. More than enough, especially because it's only an entree. The carpaccio tastes moderate and the lettuce grinds between my teeth. Bab's is pinching in here salad without any satisfaction.
During our cup of coffee we decide that Cabana beach is nice to party on friday evening. For a dinner we won't come back quickly. There is something missing in the ambiance and food.

Papagayo beach club is located on the beach at Jan Thiel. During the day you can chill on the beach with a saltwater pool that borders the sea. In the beautiful restaurant you can enjoy on Monday and Tuesday a tasting for about 50 guilders and be surprised with several courses of small dishes.
I was not very impressed with the quality of the restaurant in the past but I heard that a fresh wind is blowing. I always say. Every restaurant deserves a second chance.
For the kids a children's menu and adults opt for the tasting. You can tell what you'd rather not eat but the for rest it will be a surprise. This time it is a very pleasant surprise. The appetizer of tomato soup is tasty. The courses include tuna, cod, beef surrounded with funchi and vegetables. All in all a very tasty whole that we all enjoy.
The kids menu looks nice with the fries in a basket. Once the kids have finished eating, they play on the beach and we can calmly eat the dessert of pineapple with coconut ice cream.
A tasteful tasting, delicious red wine, good service in a beautiful setting. Everything is right this time.

The morning sky on Curacao is blue and filled with small white clouds. The gray days of Sandy are over. Finally a good day to go to the beach. Once school is finished we go with the kids and friends to Pirate Bay.
Pirate Bay Beach Club is located on a public beach. You have to walk through Pirate bay to get to the beach. The friendly young lady at the entrance asks for a fee for use of the toilets, showers and things like that. Fine, I pay gladly. A clean beach with facilities is a lot better than a dirty beach full BBQ bones and glass. If you do not want to use the facilities the entrance is free.
The kids play in the shallow water and the parents can enjoy a drink in the shade of the big trees. We booked a table on the beach for six. Quite early so the kids still can be in bed on time.
The kids play on the beach with in the back the sunset. Suddenly a bell sounds. It's Happy Hour. Not the half-price or discount version. No, the real genuine old Happy hour where you order 1 and you get 2 drinks version. This Happy Hour is for everyone and not only for orders at the bar. That is well arranged by Pirate Bay.
While I enjoy the double Bacardi coke the food is served. Pirate chicken sate for the kids. Bab’s Asian salad with very short fried tuna, green beans, wakame and cashews (Wakame is dried curl seaweed from Japan). And for me the tuna steak with pesto and stir fry vegetables. Whit the food, rice or fries are served. The sauces are served in plastic cups and garnishing is quite messy. The kids enjoy their chicken sate.
As dessert Bab’s orders the Key lime pie and for the kids an ice cream. In the meanwhile I pay the bill. The total is 190 guilders.
Pirate Bay is a beautiful spot on Curacao. It’s located on a shady beach with a shallow sea where the kids can play well. The experience of dining on the beach with the sun setting is lovely. The chicken sate was good and the happy hour too.
